We begin tonight with a stern warning about safety on the M-B-T-A, and problems with management. A review panel formed in June, after a major derailment on the Red Line says safety on the Tee is not a priority--but has to be. The recount for a seat on the Boston City Council was nearing completion today. Before it started at-large candidate Julia Mejia was in fourth place by a margin of only eight votes. Two Boston councilors are defending their support for a local inspector general's office. The Boston Municipal Research Bureau said last week the office would duplicate the state's office--and lack sufficient independence. Interview with John Drew, President & CEO, Boston ABCD.
