Ki Morrissey shares her story of an unplanned pregnancy
at UMASS-Amherst about 26 years ago. Back then, women were just given the
number to the local abortion mill. Despite her boyfriend wanting her to
abort, she decided, with the support of her family and much prayer, to place
the child for adoption. She discusses the shame most pregnant, unmarried
women felt back then and to a lesser degree, experience today. At age 19, her
son sought out his birth mother. Ki is overjoyed he did. She notes the
inter-family and inter-generational joy her adoption decision has had.
