One group of parents and activists, the Boston Educational Justice Alliance, has announced support for Brenda Cassellius, an education official from Minnesota. Two unauthorized immigrants were arrested this week by federal agents at courthouses in Suffolk County. According to the Boston Herald, a spokesperson for ICE says both immigrants are gang members from El Salvador. The arrest took place in Chelsea and in East Boston. A twenty year-old man from Roslindale was arrested yesterday for a non-fatal shooting last December in Jamaica Plain.
