We begin tonight with a rally against displacement in Chinatown--and a breakdown of neighborhood structure. In this case, it's the structure of nineteenth-century brick rowhouses that were a destination for working-class immigrants. A federal judge is ordering the State Police to hire a Black recruit who filed a complaint of discrimination. According to the Boston Globe, Orlando Riley filed the suit after being disqualified by an interviewer--after he passed a health screening and received a top grade on a the written exam. Mayor Walsh is backing legislation for more disclosure about gaps in pay--by race and gender. The bill would apply to pay for managerial positions in companies with more than one hundred employees.
